Get Your Laugh on at CAT's Summer Theatre Festival 2010

It’s Comedy with the Most Unusual Suspects: CAT of Corona’s 6th Annual Summer Festival is coming and it’s one hilarious comedy after another!

Our summer youth production is up first. The Emperor’s New Clothes runs August 6th - August 8th with 5 performances. When the Emperor, his wife, and their three spoiled daughters nearly ruin the country with their out of control spending and crazy whims, it takes some crafty and ingenious swindlers (who look amazingly like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever) to save the empire from complete financial ruin. With wild costumes and even wilder music, this is a show that both kids and parents will love.

ROUTE 66 is up next with 5 performances, August 13th-15th. Starting in St. Louis, this comedy masquerading as a music revue will take you along the famous Route 66 from the Heartland to California with songs that will make you laugh and cheer. Starring four CAT favorites (Ben Stultz, Andy Pervorse, Matt Eden, and Andrew Monroe), this show promises to knock your socks off and have you begging for more of everything. It’s a MUST SEE for your summer!

“ROUTE 66 is well worth the trip! They sing, they dance, they wear zany costumes, they act up, then they pause for some serious, reflective moments. It’s quite a performance – one that had the audience on its feet cheering at the close. What a ride!”
–Oregon Mail Tribune

Our final offering in the Comedy Crown is, The Foreigner, a play by Larry Shue which will run for 5 performances August 20th-22nd. In this hilarious comedy Charlie Baker, an inept and incredibly shy British gentleman is persuaded by his well meaning friend, Sgt. Froggy LeSueur, to cross the Atlantic for a three-day respite at a run-down fishing lodge. To protect his super shy friend from unwanted conversation Froggy passes Charlie off as a foreigner who neither speaks or understands English. This leads to all sorts of misadventures as Charlie hears things he was never meant to hear and ultimately finds himself forced into the role of a reluctant hero. The Foreigner is a delightful show that will have you laughing uncontrollably and cheering for Charlie to succeed by the final curtain.

Join us for all three shows located at Historic City Hall. Tickets on sale now at www.CATcorona.org.
